Our service is specifically designed for office, warehouse, and industrial environments to ensure your staff stay safe from electrical hazards.

What is Test and Tag?

Test and tag is the process of visually inspecting and electronically testing portable electrical appliances for safety. In Australia, this service must be performed by qualified technicians according to AS/NZS 3760 standards.

Every electrical appliance in your workplace—from computers and printers to power tools and kitchen equipment—poses a potential electrical hazard if not properly maintained. Test and tag services identify faulty equipment before it causes injury, prevents downtime from equipment failure, and ensures your business meets WHS electrical safety obligations.

We also provide specialist electrical safety services for schools and education facilities.

Why is Test & Tag Important?

  • Prevents electrical shocks and fires that cause workplace injuries and fatalities
  • Meets legal compliance requirements under Australian WHS legislation
  • Satisfies insurance requirements for workplace safety and public liability coverage
  • Protects your staff and demonstrates duty of care as an employer
  • Reduces equipment downtime by identifying issues before complete failure

Plug & Socket Replacement (Minor Electrical Repairs)

If an appliance fails testing due to a damaged plug or unsafe socket connection, we can complete on-the-spot replacement for both 10A and 15A appliances. This includes re-terminating worn, cracked or non-compliant plug-tops, as well as replacing damaged appliance sockets where safe and appropriate.

Every replacement is followed by a full safety verification to ensure compliance with AS/NZS 3760, including:

  • Visual condition
  • Earth continuity
  • Polarity (if applicable)
  • Insulation resistance
  • Leakage testing (if applicable)

We also replace pre-April 2005 plug-tops that were manufactured before insulated pins became mandatory under changes to AS/NZS 3112. These older plugs remain in circulation under a grandfather clause and are frequently encountered on long-service equipment.

Earth Safety Check (Pre-Test Electrical Verification)

Before we begin any appliance testing, we perform a quick Earth Safety Check at the nearest power outlet. This simple fault-loop verification ensures the socket has a safe earth path so our calibrated test equipment can record accurate and reliable test results.

If an outlet has a high or missing earth connection, the PAT machine may produce incorrect readings. Identifying this early protects your equipment, ensures technician safety, and helps maintain valid AS/NZS 3760 test records.

This check is included at no extra cost and is performed during our initial visit to confirm the electrical environment is safe for testing.
