At Liberty Test & Tag, our name represents more than workplace
safety — it symbolises liberty, knowledge, and community.
We're proud to support local history, education, and cultural
initiatives that strengthen Australia's connection with France.
Our team has proudly supported Bastille Day community celebrations since 2013 through ongoing involvement with local French–Australian cultural and historical groups. This special event, held on 14 July each year, honours the historic arrival of French explorer Jean-François de Galaup, Comte de Lapérouse, who landed at Botany Bay in 1788, just days after the arrival of the First Fleet.
Our involvement grew from a visit to a Lapérouse exhibition at the Australian Museum, which inspired a deeper connection to maritime heritage and remembrance. In collaboration with Randwick City Council and under the auspices of the Consulate General of France in Sydney, we provide ceremonial artillery salutes to commemorate the lives of sailors lost at sea — particularly those of the Lapérouse expedition, which vanished in the Pacific in 1788 and was not found for nearly 40 years.
As members of the 1er Régiment d'Artillerie de la Marine Re-enactment group, we take great pride in continuing this tradition, which celebrates the enduring friendship between France and Australia, while honouring courage, exploration, and service.
"This community event blends remembrance, education, and heritage — a tribute to shared history and the values of liberty, courage, and service."
The ceremonial artillery salute is a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect, connecting past and present through the thunderous echo of cannon fire over the waters where Lapérouse's expedition once anchored.
Through our involvement in heritage and re-enactment events, Liberty Test & Tag supports educational programs and cultural preservation initiatives. Our engagements include:
