Calculator rules as built

Single site only. 3+ sites → no estimate, each site quoted individually. Travel between sites kills the maths.
Beyond a 4-hour drive → custom quote, no estimate.
Under 30 items → routed out at $150 + GST or contact.
Mining → day-rate basis, no estimate. $1,100–$1,400/day.
Sensitive data (govt, defence, cyber, ASD) → PAC forced, Seaward locked out. ISO orgs choose either.
3-phase → footnote, $6.50–$8.50/unit depending on size and difficulty.
Result shows a range (±20%), never a single figure. Counts are declared, not verified — price adjusts on the day.
Site fees cover a testing day. Additional travel between locations is not charged.

Pricing is built from required revenue per productive testing day, worked backwards through PAC vs Elite throughput — not from competitor $/tag rates.

Baseline benchmark

Current normal testing-day revenue: $650–$750/day (excluding days that combine fire etc.)
Implied average: ~181 tests/day at ~$3.59/test
School job: $471/day — ~28–37% below normal, for 17 days (3.4 working weeks). Good invoice, poor time economics.

PAC throughput changes the economics

The PAC3760DL can do upwards of 300 tests/day. This means ~181 tests/day must not be treated as the PAC's ceiling. The PAC earns margin through throughput, not per-test price — which is exactly why the $3.60 floor is viable.

Critical qualifier — site efficiency, not volume alone

"PAC can do 300+/day" does not mean quoting every large job at 300/day. Efficiency depends on the environment:

Efficient

Warehouse with accessible equipment — can fly

Inefficient

School spread across buildings, locked rooms, staff interruptions, equipment under desks, asset ID time

Quoting rule: $3.60 is earned by volume AND an efficient testing environment — not volume alone. A 1,500-item straightforward warehouse may legitimately hit $3.60. A 1,500-item complex multi-building site should not automatically get the lowest rate just because it has many appliances.
